IT Governance and alignment

Business/IT alignment is one of the most frequently addressed issues of IT/IS management. It deals with the harmonization of business goals and IT goals on all organizational levels through appropriate decision structures, governance mechanisms and organizational processes. Furthermore, IT governance, the term defined by P. Weill and J. Ross (2004) as “specifying the decision rights and accountability framework to encourage desirable behavior in the use of IT” constitutes nowadays the most holistic and systematic approach helping to solve the problems connected with supporting business with IT in the organizational context. Nowadays, IT governance and alignment have to be placed in the context of extensive digitalization of business and society, thus facing different challenges and requiring new frameworks, methods, and theoretical perspectives. This track is aimed at presenting the latest developments and research related to IT governance and alignment presented from both business and academic perspectives.
