Long distance trains from Naples (9 hours journey and if booked early the ticket costs around \u20ac40, one way), Rome (11,5 hours journey \u2013 ticket \u20ac50), and Milano (15 hours journey \u2013 ticket \u20ac120) cross the Straits of Messina by railferry and continue on to Palermo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p style=\"color: #984806;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>By boat<\/b><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Across the Straits of Messina, there are at least hourly ferries between Messina on Sicily and Villa San Giovanni on the mainland. Also, large, cruise-ferries link Palermo with Civitavecchia, Naples, Genoa, Livorno, Sardinia and other Mediterranean destinations. If you drive a car, you can also drive on-board the BLUVIA rail\/train ferries.
